Just got back from visiting family in Seattle. My mother celebrated her 60th birthday on St Patty’s Day, so we all converged in the PNW for the occasion. The trip was a nice break from work and the snow here in the East.
Just before leaving I picked up a new camera, the Sony NEX-6 with the 16-50 power zoom lens. I got it because it’s super compact yet still has an APS-C sized sensor, interchangeable lenses, and enough external controls to make using it like my Nikon DSLR possible. Now… it’s not perfect. But it’s pretty close and the image quality is more than adequate for my uses. The lens is nothing to write home about. It’s pretty slow and displays pretty severe distortion, though it’s easily corrected. What I like about it is that it’s tiny. It easily fits into my coat pocket. And even though the lens is quite slow… the image quality at 1600 and 3200 is great so it’s not really that big of an issue.
Anyway, I’ve only had the camera for a short period of time and I’m going to wait a bit before passing judgement on it. In the meantime I’ve been pretty happy with the purchase.
Enjoy the pics!
