This past weekend Down Wind Sports hosted the 20th annual Midwest Telefest at the Porkies in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. During all of the years that I’ve worked at Down Wind I’ve had the opportunity to participate at Telefest a handful of times. This year we had a great turnout. Final numbers were right around 190 people. The format was pretty much the same this year as it’s always been. We were able to add back in the GS race, and the chili competition had to go (the health department doesn’t look to fondly upon businesses that promote distributing food made at home in a public place). However, I think this was one of the best weekends in the event’s long history. Scarpa, Black Diamond, Rossignol, Garmont, K2, and Crispi were all kind enough to send representatives with demo equipment for everyone to try. The snow was good with some freshies on Sunday if you stuck around. Chasin Steel provided the entertainment on Saturday night and rocked the house. All-in-all it was an event that you wouldn’t want to miss.
Below are some of my favorite photos from the weekend and at the end is a more complete slideshow.
