Icicles…

So here is a series of images that I recently worked on. You can see the progression from original through two stages of post production. I needed to spend some time in photoshop talking out loud my thought process as I worked. The goal of the exercise is to look at the way the tool (photoshop) influences the way we do our work. I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to see how that goes, but in the meantime I have a question.

Which image do you like best?

If you are willing, can you try and explain why it is your favorite?

(if you click on the image you can view it at a larger size)

Sometimes when I’m working I have an end product in mind. I can see the image I want and I just need to massage the image I have until it starts looking like my vision. However, sometimes I don’t really know what I’m looking for. This time happened to be one of those instances. I like what I ended up with, and I know why I did what I did. However, I didn’t know what I was going to get. I guess I am just looking for some input.

Oh… don’t hesitate to tell me if you don’t like one of the images. That is helpful also.

Till the next time…

I like the one on the left. I think because the background is blurred thereby making the icicle stand out more. On the other hand, one could argue that the one on the right, with the more detailed, darker background gives context to the icicle….both are good. Great photo work, Greg!
